Janga Bahadur Lama

Founder

Janga Bahadur Lama was born in Simikot, Humla, Nepal, one of the most remote regions in the world. To pursue higher education, he moved to Kathmandu. While studying, he worked in a hotel to support himself. This responsibility hindered his ability to continue his education but provided valuable experience that eventually led him to start his own business. After over six years in the hotel and travel industry, he and his friends established a trekking company in 2007 called Firante Treks, meaning “wanderer.”

After a decade in the travel industry, Janga expanded his ventures into hospitality and food businesses in 2016 by founding Humla Resort and Spa and Products Karnali Pvt. Ltd. He also established the non-profit NGO Bodhi Tree Foundation Humla to help the needy in Humla and across Nepal. This NGO collaborates with Bodhi Tree Foundation USA, Women Light the World, Barefoot College, USAID, and other organizations.
